Introduction of Leanwave

What is Leanwave?

Leanwave delivers tailored RFID tags, hardware, and integrated software designed to optimize complex operations in commercial textiles, healthcare, and hospitality. By converting in-depth process analyses into functional proof-of-concept solutions, Leanwave replaces manual errors with automated precision, streamlining workflows, cutting operational costs, and eliminating inventory shortages.

Tailored to your specific environment, Leanwave engineers custom technology around the unique requirements of your business. Backed by the resource strength of OTTO ID Solutions, Leanwave combines enterprise-grade authority with the agility of a startup to serve as your end-to-end RFID partner, driving efficiency and measurable results across your entire organisation.

Question 1: The name "Leanwave" - What does it mean?

The name Leanwave combines two central ideas behind the company. “Lean” comes from Lean Management. It represents the focus on efficient, streamlined processes, reducing unnecessary steps and waste, and improving how operations work. “Wave” has two meanings:

  • It represents the radio waves used by RFID technology.
  • It represents water and washing, creating a direct connection to the textile-service and laundry industry.

The name therefore combines the company's approach, its technology, and its industry focus

Leanwave focuses on creating efficient RFID solutions specifically for the textile-service environment.

Potential soundbite

“Lean is how we think about processes; Wave is the technology and the industry we serve.”

Question 2: How did you come up with the idea for Leanwave?

The Settings Before Leanwave

Leanwave was born directly from real-world experience on the textile-service factory floor. Before founding the company, our founder spent years working as an engineer and operations manager for a European textile-service company, driving digital transformation and managing RFID implementations from the insider’s perspective.

The Missing Piece in the Market

While leading daily operations, the founder realised the market was full of individual components such as tags, readers, standalone software, and technical parts. However, solving real operational challenges seemed impossible with disconnected hardware.

What was missing was a partner who truly understood the complete picture. The industry didn't just need hardware vendors selling individual parts; it needed an ally who understood how laundry operations actually work, where bottlenecks occur, and where RFID creates measurable value. Beyond selecting the right combination of hardware and software, businesses needed a guide to ensure seamless workflow integration, manage a successful deployment, and provide long-term support once systems went live.

The Leanwave Difference

Finding an end-to-end partner focused on operational outcomes rather than pushing standalone products proved nearly impossible. That industry gap inspired the creation of Leanwave.

Leanwave was built to be the exact RFID partner its founder once searched for: a true collaborator delivering complete turnkey solutions, deep industry expertise, and dependable ongoing support every step of the way.

Leanwave approaches RFID from the process perspective first. Our experience is specifically valuable because we understand the processes happening behind the scenes and then determine how RFID can best support those processes.

The objective is to provide a much more complete, turnkey approach instead of leaving the customer to assemble individual technology components themselves.

Quote

“There were plenty of good products on the market - good tags, hardware and software - but I struggled to find somebody who would look at the problem from my perspective as an operations manager. I didn’t just want to buy RFID technology. I wanted somebody to understand our processes, understand what benefits we were trying to achieve, and then put all the pieces together into a turnkey solution. Eventually I thought: if this is what I was looking for as a customer and couldn’t find, maybe that’s the company I should build.”
