Saphire One · UHF RFID laundry tag
Small tag.
Simple principle.
Saphire One is our own UHF RFID tag for industrially processed textiles. Made to withstand washing, pressing, drying, ironing and sterilisation, and to deliver reliable bulk reads, cycle after cycle: the best overall performance for the best price.

Antenna
Picks up the reader’s signal and sends the tag’s answer back.
Chip
Holds the textile’s unique identity for its whole service life.
No battery
Passive UHF: the reader supplies the energy, the tag answers.
Read in bulk
Many tags at once, without line of sight.

Read performance
Bulk reads, even in
dense textile loads.
Saphire One is a passive UHF RFID tag: no battery, no transmitter of its own. A reader supplies the energy and the tag answers — many tags at once, without line of sight.
Up to 12 m read range
The range you reach varies with the installation environment: the reader configuration, the antennas and the surrounding RF conditions.
Built for bulk reading
Designed for densely packed textiles in carts, bags and roll containers.
Works with your readers
EPC Class 1 Gen 2 / ISO/IEC 18000-63 (RAIN RFID). Compatible with existing UHF readers: portal, tunnel, cabinet and handheld.
Independently assessed
Saphire One’s read performance has been assessed by the European EPC Competence Center (EECC) under TACTA.
Why Saphire One
Best overall performance.
For the best price.
Saphire One is the tag we build on: the read performance and durability industrial laundries need, at a price that makes tagging whole textile pools worthwhile.

Questions about
Saphire One.
Does Saphire One work with our existing RFID readers?
Yes. Saphire One follows EPC Class 1 Gen 2 / ISO/IEC 18000-63, the standard UHF RFID readers use. It works with portal, tunnel, cabinet and handheld readers configured for your regional frequency band.
How far can Saphire One be read?
Up to 12 m. The range you reach depends on the installation environment — the reader configuration, the antennas, how they are mounted and the surrounding RF conditions — so we recommend testing sample tags in your own setup.
How many wash cycles does Saphire One last?
Saphire One is specified for 200+ industrial wash cycles and an operational lifetime of up to two years. How long a tag lasts in practice also depends on the textile, the chemistry and the process settings.
Can Saphire One be sterilised?
Yes. Saphire One withstands sterilisation at 134 °C for 20 minutes, which makes it suitable for hospital linen and other healthcare textiles. Our tags can also support sterilisation requirements beyond that temperature, and for gamma sterilisation and MRI environments we offer dedicated tags. Ask us about your process.
Do you offer tags for specialised applications?
Yes. Besides Saphire One, we offer the GENX2 Tag, Matt Tag, Gamma Tag and MRI Tag for specialised requirements such as gamma sterilisation or MRI environments. Contact us and we will advise which tag fits.
How is the tag attached to the textile?
Saphire One can be sewn in (70 × 10 mm), heat-sealed (72 × 12 mm) or placed in a textile pouch. Which method fits best depends on the textile, the position on the item and your production setup.
Which frequency bands does Saphire One support?
Saphire One covers 860–928 MHz. That includes the European band (865–868 MHz) as well as the bands used in the United States (902–928 MHz), China (920–925 MHz), Japan (916–923 MHz) and India (865–867 MHz). The tag responds when a reader configured for the permitted regional band energises it.
Which certifications does Saphire One have?
Saphire One is certified to OEKO-TEX® Standard 100, and test reports cover specified REACH/SVHC, RoHS, POPs and PFAS substances as well as selected durability tests by SGS. Its read performance has also been assessed by the European EPC Competence Center (EECC) under TACTA. Each document applies to its tested product and scope; ask us for the details.
Can we test Saphire One before we order?
Yes. We can normally provide around 100–200 tags for evaluation, depending on the application, so you can test Saphire One in your own textiles and process. Larger quantities may be chargeable.
